About the OOHAILS Course
QA Level 4 Award in Out Of Hospital Adult Immediate Life Support (RQF)

The Out Of Hospital Adult Immediate Life Support (ILS) course is a 1 Day course which allows students to develop their knowledge and skills in providing immediate life support to patients in cardio-respiratory arrest or experiencing life-threatening illness and injury. It has been updated from the ILS Course.

If you work as an emergency care provider in an emergency care setting, expected to assess patients, administer medication and monitor the effects of the medication, this qualification will provide you with the practical skills and underpinning knowledge to do so safely. It is also used as CPD to retain the FREC Level 4 Qualification on an annual basis.

Topics include:
airway management, ILS procedures, ILS treatment algorithms, modifications required
during cardiac arrest, end of life care and more

Is the OOHAILS Course right for me?

Learners MUST have successfully completed the QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care
(RQF) or similar qualification, e.g. Associate Ambulance Practitioner, IHCD Ambulance Aid or be a registered healthcare professional working in an emergency care or primary care environment. Equivalent qualifications must be mapped to the Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria of the QA Level 4
Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF or RQF), and be submitted to QA for consideration, showing how comparable they are in relation to meeting the same skills and knowledge as well as the assessment requirements.

Can I re-qualify if my Level 4 ILS has expired?

This qualification is valid for a period of 1 year. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
Requalification requires successful completion of the original qualification.
